Onion and Tomato Raitha

Step by step procedure to prepare Onion and tomato raitha. Here I have used crushed pepper instead of green chillies. Pepper is known for its medicinal values and also enhances the taste of the dish. And for a change, you can try this method when you are preparing raitha.

Preparation time: 10 min
Cooking time: 10 min

Ingredients

Tomato - 1 finely chopped
Onion - 1 (Medium sized) finely chopped
Fresh curd - 1 cup
Mustard seeds or kadugu - 1/2 table spoon
Oil - 1 table spoon
Pepper - 2 table spoon
Salt - 1/2 table spoon or as per your taste.

Method

  1. In a pan add 1 table spoon of oil.
  2. When it is hot enough add mustard seed to sizzle, make the stove to medium flame.
  3. Now add onion and fry until it becomes transparent.
  4. Add tomato and salt and stir until tomato becomes soft.
  5. In a bowl, whisk the curd add the content.
  6. Add pepper and mix the content well and serve for briyani or paratha.
Notes:
  • Of course, you can use green chillies for raitha instead of pepper. Chop the green chillies finely and add them to the oil just before adding onions.
  • You can also add chilli powder, which also gives a nice favour to raitha.
